Meet Jeremy Gilley of Peace One Day

This month we are introducing our final key-note speaker for The Playing Human Conference in London on 27-28 September 2018.

Last but not least in the line up presentation of second to none world class speakers, Jeremy Gilley of Peace One Day!

In 1998 Jeremy began to make the Peace One Day documentary, eventually deciding to aim for a UN resolution that would formalise the idea. This goal was reached in 2001 when United Nations unanimously adopted a General Assembly Resolution to establish 21 September as International Day of Peace!

The Peace One Day website writes: “Peace Day is an opportunity for UN agencies and NGOs to focus their ongoing life-saving activities within a global context. The impact of a day of global ceasefire and non-violence cannot be underestimated. Throughout the years, millions of people have been active on Peace Day in every country of the world, and hundreds of organisations have carried out life-saving activities in areas of conflict.”

Meet Pady O’Connor of MeeMee Theatre

Over the coming months we will be introducing our key-note speakers for The Playing Human Conference in London on 27-28 September 2018.

It is with great excitement that we welcome back Pady O’Connor – Clown Doctor and Artistic Director of MeeMee Theatre. Pady showed a few of his exciting methods last year in London and he is back to play with us!

Pady works his magic in North-East England as Clown Doctor, Dr Johan Cherrywolf, or Jonah to his mother, where he comes from a family of wrestlers called the Von Wolf’s. He was set to follow in his family’s footsteps, but Johan was walking one day, lost his footing and stumbled. He found himself hanging onto the edge of a cliff. Just as his grip started to loosen, and the end seemed inevitable, a small hairy leg and hoof lifted him to safety. Standing nearby was a deer – one crystal tear fell from its eye and it then vanished. That moment will stay with Johan forever, and he decided then to help in life in whatever way he could.

And that is just the introduction to Pady’s alter ego, Dr Johan Cherrywolf… there is MUCH more to his work and he will be sharing some of it with us.

Meet Robert Holden of Happiness Project

Over the coming months we will be introducing our key-note speakers for The Playing Human Conference in London on 27-28 September 2018.

In our January News we introduced Robert Holden, Founder of the Happiness Project and Success Intelligence – known as the leading happiness expert in the UK! Robert is a genuine and kindhearted man who lives what he teaches. It is a real privilege to connect with him and I hope you will take this opportunity and join us on 27-28 September when Robert will be opening The Playing Human Conference.

When I connected with Robert on Skype some months ago to discuss the conference and his idea for the content of his key-note presentation I connected with a charming, charismatic Brit who was oozing a playful attitude while still being serious about his work – and this was my experience from simply meeting him online. Robert is living happiness and what he will be sharing with us is a mystery to me, he will know at the time, and I for one am eversoexcited!

The Tea Meditation below is a bit longer than other videos I have presented with our key-note speakers but please take the time for this 20 minute talk on the Age of More and the Tea Meditation.

“One new perception, one fresh thought, one act of surrender, one change of heart, one leap of faith, can change your life forever.” Robert Holden, The Happiness Project and Success Intelligence

Meet Patch Adams, M.D., of Gesundheit Institute

Over the coming months we will be introducing our key-note speakers for The Playing Human Conference in London on 27-28 September 2018.

It is difficult not to fall in love with Patch Adams when he seriously proclaims, “I’m 72 years old with the maturity level of a 9-10 year old”. There is a warmth in his eyes when he connects with people in the room – connection that reached into your heart and touches your soul.

If you read our newsletter you may already have met Patch Adams, Founder of Gesundheit Clinic – if you haven’t yet read our November Laughter News the link is ready for you at the bottom of this post.

The Medical Doctor, who brought clowning to hospitals around the world through his persistent work to share, care, and love people instead of treat symptoms, is back in London at The Playing Human Conference!

Patch speaks from his heart with a passion and honesty that makes me want to be a better person than I am, makes me want to reach out even further to create positive change. We need people in our lives who make us go the extra mile, people who inspire and call upon greatness in us all.

In 2006 I had my first experience of Patch in Copenhagen and I was fortunate to be able to introduce him to a group of almost 100 Laughter Yoga Professionals in London in April 2017. However, for many it was too short notice to enable them to come to the event, so here is a second opportunity to meet and to learn from the REAL Patch Adams.

“Everyone has creative potential. Creativity involves using your imagination and inventiveness. Your unique expression of yourself is your creativity…Creativity can be magic when visiting people who are ill.” Patch Adams, MD, Founder of Gesundheit Institute

The Playing Human Conference Sep 2018

Welcome to The Playing Human Conference!

Playing makes you joyful and childlike… – as seen at the Global Laughter Yoga Conference.

We will be filling Conway Hall on Red Lion Square in London on 27-28 September 2018 with people, laughter, chat, fun, tales of joy from around the world, and energy that is unsurpassed by any measure.

To remind you of the background for this conference, the idea came from a recent article I read about the importance of playing as an adult and my mind wandered back to an exhibition I visited in my teens at the art gallery, Louisiana, north of Copenhagen (worth a visit).

The exhibition was called Homo Ludens – the playing human.

This led to further inspiration as I was reminded of a book I came across back then, the book written in 1938 by Dutch historian and cultural theorist Johan Huizinga, “Homo Ludens”. A bit of context: http://www.gamestudies.org/0601/articles/rodriges.

They didn’t get their tickets…

I am so excited about this opportunity to bring awesome speakers together to share their view on play, happiness, laughter and life.

And I understand that to even consider booking a conference taking place in September 2018 may seem way out of your planning.

However, when you postpone your decision you may end up disappointed because suddenly the dates have been taken up by other things.

So, my invitation to you is to book your place now – make your choice for those two days, 27-28 September 2018, and invite the people you know to come along to a amazing event.

Please make sure you get your place at the early bird fee of £300 as it will not be around forever – if you are VERY snappy you may even get one of the few seats left at only £250.

The Playing Human Conference

A Day in London with Patch, Pady and 90 Laughter Friends

There is nothing that quite compares with the joy and enthusiasm, the love and the excitement shared with almost 100 laughter enthusiasts in a room with Patch Adams and Pady O’Connor.

Tuesday 25th April started with Pady O’Conner introducing us all to the Clown Doctors in North-East England. He then took us onto an exploration of masks and the expression we experience playing with improvisation and masks.

Truly skillful teacher of the arts, Pady O’Connor is – and very inspiring.

Patch Adams arrived early afternoon!

We spent the rest of the day exploring his methods for choosing a life of joy. Playing, dancing, singing, laughing, angering, welling up with tears, all of it in our natural state are ways to be joyful beings.

Thank you to everyone who joined in making this truly magical day happen!

Next year is already in the making so make sure you block out 28-29 September 2018 as the ball is set in motion in this writing moment…
