A few Thoughts from Yours Truly

I am so thanksful for all the opportunities to share Laughter Yoga that are being presented to me.

It also provides opportunities for my Laughter Yoga Teacher who constantly invest in being the best they can and thrive towards excellence.

The people who have trusted me with their continued training are outstanding and I trust them to deliver workshops and training to high standards.

You are in good hands with these amazing individuals!

Laughter Yoga in the UK is not a one-man-show but sometimes someone has to walk in front and take the full beating of the storm on occasions.

I feel extremely privileged for having been with Laughter Yoga in the UK at the very early days when we were only few, and now it has grown to thousands of people who have trained.

In this moment of thinking about there wonderful people who have shared their laughter liberally there is not one person that has not stood out.

When I receive emails from people who trained years ago starting with a sentence much like ‘I don’t know if you remember me but I trained with you…’.

I do remember you – I remember all of you.

Almost 1,200 people who have trained with me as Laughter Yoga Leaders or Laughter Yoga Teachers, some are more in touch than others but I know who you are, you are my kind of people.

In September I did not run any training courses, which is the first month in a very long time without teaching, but I had many corporate bookings and other events that were absolutely magical.

Laughter Yoga brings us together in compassionate, caring ways and once we have had the experience of laughing with complete strangers there are no strangers anymore, only friends we have yet to meet.

And in addition I am ruly grateful for the achievement of winning the London Prestige Award 2019/2020 in the category of Specialist Yoga Training Provider of the Year. Thank you! This is the achievement of all the people I work with, teach and learn from, too.

Once again I am sat here, fingers on the keyboard, slightly lost for words but with my heart busting with loving memories and the presence of you all on the forefront of my mind.

Thank you.

Love, Laughter and Peace

Lotte

Your Everyday Laughter Queen #youreverydaylaughterqueen

45 seconds on ITV Lorraine with Andi Peters

On Thursday 29 August 2019 I started the day with a few seconds of laughter on live television before rushing off to start Laughter Yoga Leader Training in Neal’s Yards together with fellow Laughter Ambassador Melanie Bloch.

It was fun and very, very brief! Happy to arrive to a fantastic group of upcoming Laughter Yoga Leader!

I thought I’d leave this one in here one more month…

The production team at ITV is friendly, professional and just ready to help!

The Playing Human Conference – June 2020!

Only 70 tickets left!

A superb line up is currently being introduced. We started in February when we introduced The Miracle Man, Ant Bennett, in March you met the YES Man, Dave Cornthwaite, in April you were acquainted with Play Expert, Yesim Kunter, in May Kate Hull Rodgers was on display, June you got acquainted with Sue Haswell, in August you met Robert Rivest, September shared Maggie Irving with you, and in October we introduce Corinne Cosseron and Julien Pechot, the creators of Rigologie in France!

Meet Corinne Cosseron and Julien Pechot

Corinne created Rigologies in France and together with Julien she teaches these inspirational techniques that blends Laughter Yoga with a deeper laughter presence with roots in positive psycology, emotional intelligence, Sophrology and more.

Last year we had a brief taste of her work but sadly ran out of time for a full-blown experience, so in June 2020 Corinne and Julien are back and I am excited to be able to fully try out Rigologie!

Corinne has been teaching Rigologie in organisations and companies since 2002 and trained professionals so much that there are now over 3,000 Rigologies Professionals trained and ready to deliver.

Read more about the team on l’Ecole Internationals de Rire et du Bonheur – and look out for the mid-month story of Corinne and Julien…

Laughter Yoga Leader Training

The Laughter Yoga Leader Training offers an easy and fast route to joy and playfulness.

The training is as popular as ever and our London courses fill up months in advance of the dates scheduled.

Mel and I have now been teaching the 2-day training together in Neal’s Yard, Covent Garden, for over two years, and we are going from strength to strength. We complement each others’ deficiencies and deliver full-blown professional training with real transformation at the heart of our teaching philosophy.

What we teach in 12 hours is what others may take many more hours to deliver. It does not mean the quality of the course is compromised, on the contrary, the transformation we experience in our groups cannot be made up.

Maybe it’s because we are two to share the work and it works for us!

The most exciting thing about our training is that other UnitedMind Laughter Yoga Teachers are delivering similar transformation in their courses by themselves as well as togetherr, and if you are not in London then there may be places you are nearby,

Below are listed a few of the highly recommended teachers to mention who delivers to tremendously high standards with you in mind,

  • Norwich – Mr dod teaches in Norfolk and if you are in this area or in Suffolk, Lincs or Cambs this may be the ideal location for you. In addition you get a seriously passionate and fun teacher!
  • Manchester – Sara Kay is running training in North West where Manchester is a gateway for many people coming from North Wales and Scotland, and Sara is simply on a mission to change the area.
  • Birmingham – Maggie Thompson has her presence in the Midlands and has been teaching Laughter Yoga for many years so you would be in very capable hands.
  • Chichester – Lesley Raphael teachers in Surrey with great knowledge and life skills learned through experiencing the true effects of Laughter Yoga in real life.
Ask us about our the Laughter Yoga Teachers without name-tags…

The 2-day Laughter Therapist Training is only the beginning of the 6-12 months programme leading to your Level 7 Qualification (full details on www.unitedmind.co.uk/training/laughter-therapist/)

2-day Certified Laughter Therapist Training (NB 12-month programme)

Living laughter in workplaces

September brought laughter to many different sectors and types of workplaces.

The potential morning group at BOUNCE FIT BODY – they were also great at Laughter Yoga

It is a real privilege to be trusted to deliver workshops for management and staff and although Laughter Yoga does not always hit the soft spot for everyone, there is something to take away for all when looking deep within.

Sometimes it is a matter or acknowledgement of something we need instead of dismissing it because of a simple practice. Even if the method itself is not doing if for you, perhaps there is another way, inspired by Laughter Yoga, that can bring more joy and laughter to your life.

It is always daunting to go into groups where some people have had a GREAT experience in the past because this is the basis for comparison.

Nothing is ever the same!

Even if the experience in a workshop is not the same as that top-of-the-list experience of the past it does not mean it was not great, it was just different. Exactly like every Laughter Yoga Professional is different and deliver their workshops differently.

Take something from the workshop and keep it alive in the workplace and at home, that really is what this work is about. Bringing laughter to life.

I learn from each workshop and I also know that no matter what the expectations are from me and from my clients, there is nothing set in stone until we meet in the group and share laughter.

When we get together there is potential for personal magic and real business enhancements to happen.

Quite frankly, it is a very special moment to hear that “the CEO and his wife really enjoyed your Laughter Yoga session”.

To Danes in England

And I had the real pleasure of meeting Sandi Toksvik at one of the events but it is the meeting with the people in the group that makes the most of a difference – that is where real transformation and celebration happens.

Thank you for discovering Laughter Yoga for you and your team!

Please get in touch about UnitedMind’s Workshops, training, and other events via email, info@unitedmind.co.uk or call 0800 12 14 714.

Reflection on August from Yours Truly

Most of us enjoy laughing and we feel good after a hearty laugh when we relax with an empty mind.

Then we can hear our heart best.

However, we sometimes forget and let our laughter grow old and non-resounding. We forget the sound and forget what makes us laugh.

Magic happens when we choose to laugh when there is nothing and no one to laugh at, or with, than our own self. Nothing causing our laughter.

Laughing at… is hurtful. Laughing with… is connecting!

In August I shared some amazing moments in laughter and joy with people from around the UK and even a wonderful Laughter Yoga Family from the US who came and laughed with me, Patricia and Cheryl under very stormy conditions in Bedfordshire.

I went to Wales and trained The brilliant Roach Coach, Sian, as a Laughter Coach and enjoyed the time with a colleague just like I did when I met Francesca in London as well as visiting Mel in Stanmore.

Laughter friends, family and colleagues are the nuggets – and berries – that make life bright and cheerful.

The workshops and training I have been invited to facilitate this month have brought laughter, tears, joy and release.

There is no telling what people take away from Laughter Workshops and it may not always be what I expect or what they expect themselves.

Sometimes it is not Laughter Yoga that is on their mind and yet the laughter may have sparked some profound connections and stress relief.

Let’s face it, Laughter Yoga is a method that is not for us all but unless we try it out we really can’t make an informed decision.

I go where there is laughter to be shared for the good of our health, our mood, our mind, our work and ethics, our resourcefulness and willingness to willing positive change!

Love, Laughter and Peace

Laughter Therapist – a deep dive

Laughter Therapist Teachers
Melanie Bloch and Lotte Mikkelsen

To become a Laughter Therapist you must have a background as a therapist or counsellor.

Being a Laughter Therapist means you are able to hold the space for people who may wish to release deep-rooted cell trauma through crying, laughing or even raging.

Experiencing catharsis can be a real wake up call and very emotional for the client, and if you as Laughter Therapist have not done your own catharting holding the space can seem a real challenge.

When people laugh, cry, rage or express themselves in ways we feel uncomfortable with we will try and stop them through nurturing them.

However, if you stop someone from releasing they have to go somewhere else to release the stored up emotions and this is why it is so important to be able to hold the space for as long as it takes.

The weekend of Laughter Therapist Training is really profound and many of the past students have excperience true catharsis just as some have not explored it fully. It can seem scary and it is worth remembering that when we let go and allor catharsis to happen it gets messy…

But the view on the other side is freedom, lightheartedness, openness, self-expression and true transformation.

Laughter Therapy cannot be learned online.

The 2-day Laughter Therapist Training is only the beginning of the 6-12 months programme leading to your Level 7 Qualification (full details on www.unitedmind.co.uk/training/laughter-therapist/)

2-day Certified Laughter Therapist Training (NB 12-month programme)

Laughter Coach – in practice

A one-on-one Laughter Yoga approach that was introduced in the UK by UnitedMind in 2010.

Since first taking clients on the 8-week Laughter Yoga rollercoaster in 2010 I have trained numerous Laughter Yoga Leaders and Teachers to practice Laughter Coaching.

We are encouraged by the huge interest in personal and professional development that lead people to finding Laughter Yoga.

Laughter Yoga Professionals with a background as Life and Business Coaches, Counsellors, and other types of therapists are ideally suited for this method but the additional requirement is to be a Laughter Yoga Teacher.

Laughter Coaching is a journey over 8 weeks of daily laughter, gibberish, pulling faces and feeling the change plus a weekly coach session.

You can read more about the training, which is for Certified Laughter Yoga Teachers, on www.unitedmind.co.uk/training/laughter-yoga-teacher, and dates are listed further down in this newsletter.

If you want to schedule your own 8-week Laughter Coaching Programme for yourself or your team, please visit www.unitedmind.co.uk/coaching/ for details.

Reflection on July from Yours Truly

Nothing is given in life and that means we have the choice of creating our experience in our way. Same with our laughter.

There have been some really special moment again in July and it touches my soul deeply when I contemplate on the groups I have been invited into for the sake of sharing Laughter Yoga because it is good for us.

More people – individuals, teams, organisations, companies, groups, events organisers, now than ever see the potential in Laughter Yoga and the awesome benefits the practice offers us both personally and professionally.

It is over 17 years since I founded UnitedMind as a holistic therapy business with personal laughter as an underdeveloped practice.

I was as excited about laughter then as I am now!

The difference is that I didn’t know much then, I still don’t know everything but what I do know can really make a difference when you want to learn Laughter Yoga and Laughter Therapy.

July saw so many moving and inspiring moments with people around the UK in large and small groups.

Larches Community at The Larches Trust in Edgware held their end of term show and I really did feel my eyes well up when they performed their songs beautifully before sharing their favourite Laughter Yoga exercises. They have grown in confidence and joy, a happy and wonderful group to work with and I will be back next term!

When I shared Laughter Yoga with Zirchon Menachem Camp last weekend where my words had to be translated but the laughter exercises spoke for themselves I was still afraid they would not enjoy the session, but they did, some of them.

Young people living with cancer and coming to the UK for a week of happiness and joy creation. And they were wonderful, they are wonderful.

Even those in the group who did not engage exactly as those who engaged fully taught me little, big things along with a few words in Jiddish. I feel on top of the world when I share Laughter Yoga – it really is special. Very special moments whether I share Laughter Yoga in corporate workshops, health-related group, in my Laughter Clubs or in Laughter Yoga Leader and Teacher Training.

And then there was the Alne Retirement Village and Laughter Yoga with Gloria Hunniford. Everyone in the audience were sharing laughter and it was a wonderful day in rain and sun – but we were undercover…

With all the challenges many businesses face, mine has not missed out on tough times, but I am here with UnitedMind Ltd Laughter Yoga and this is Laughter Yoga in London and the UK – together with Laughter Yoga Professionals from around the country and the world I am here to make a big difference!

Love, Laughter and Peace

Laughter Yoga Teacher Reunion REVIEW

My heart is bursting with joy and happiness as my mind wanders back to the weekend in July when 20 Laughter Yoga Teachers came together where we started in 2012 – at Felden Lodge.

We spent the weekend laughing, sharing our stories, playing, eating and planning standards, bringing ideas forwards, enjoying connecting and we had what I can only deem to be an AWESOME few days!

And then there were some new Laughter Ambassadors, too.

What came of it?

Motivated and connected Laughter Yoga Teachers who created friendships and new ways to move forward – together. Plus so much more that is a tad bit difficult to decipher in just a few lines…

We were the first in the UK – to my knowledge – who shared the Laughter Yoga Bollywood Dance, with an abundance of laughter and playfulness added. There may be potential for this.

Already the next Laughter Yoga Teacher Reunion is scheduled for 17-19 July 2020 and places are going fast. There are limited beds so get your ticket now, some have already been taken.

  • Single room is £175
  • Shared room is £150

There is no profit but cost is simply to cover accommodation for the weekend. Book via www.unitedmind.co.uk/product-category/conferences where you can find the room type that suits you.

Laughter Yoga Teacher Training…

…more than just a great idea

When we got together, 20 Laughter Yoga Teachers from the UK, a few weeks ago it truly dawned on me what impact Laughter Yoga can potentially have in people’s lives.

Laughter Yoga Teachers take on a completely new level of embrasing Laughter Yoga in their lives and this way of being or becoming spills into the workshops and training courses they deliver.

It is not always easy to laugh but with Laughter Yoga you have opportunity to create a different perspective. As a Laughter Yoga Teacher this is a reality.

Not to say you laugh constantly, instead we create balance in life through the practice of Laughter Yoga which sometimes brings up tears and other ‘stuff’ that allows us to release what doesn’t provide comfort and purpose anymore.

Laughter Yoga Teachers support each other in ways that are beyond the scope of the training, and we are really nice people, too.

To become a Laughter Yoga Teacher you must be a Laughter Yoga Leader. This is the requirement and when you have run a Laughter Club you will know that Laughter Yoga is for you – or even if it is not for you.

Laughter Yoga Leader Training in Preston in May 2019. The course runs in London, St Albans, Bristol, Durham, Preston – and at your venue with your group.

The Laughter Yoga Teacher Training delivers change in many areas of life if you want to have change happen. It is not only about laughing and laughing loudest, on the contrary, you learn skills that allows you to deliver events with compassion and understanding of your group.

Laughter Yoga Teacher Training January 2019

There are many ways to learn Laughter Yoga but becoming a Laughter Yoga Teacher is simply a must do and must be for any Laughter Yoga Leader.

That is, of course, in my humble opinion…

You can read more about the training on www.unitedmind.co.uk/training/laughter-yoga-teacher, and dates are listed further down in this newsletter.

How Laughter Can Improve Your Life

Laughter is more than the signature sound of humour and happiness that’s unique to everyone. It’s an experience – one that reverberates throughout your whole body.

The benefits of laughter are not to be taken for granted.

Every time you laugh, fifteen facial muscles contract, the size of your larynx reduces by 50%, and your tear ducts are activated.

Able to induce euphoric feelings with a similar effect to morphine, laughter can instantly transform mood, help you bond with a loved one or stranger, and immediately lift your spirits.

In fact, did you know that laughing 100 times a day gives your body a thorough workout – one that’s comparable to spending fifteen minutes on an exercise bike?

Not only that, laughing reduces blood pressure, is excellent for the cardiovascular system, and improves memory and cognitive functioning.

And that’s not all. Scientific studies have found that laughter increases the amount of T and B cells which are the body’s natural defence against viruses and cancer other illnesses – even cancer.

So, you could argue that the more you laugh, the stronger your body’s resistance to serious illness will be.

With clear emotional and physiological benefits, there’s no denying that laughter will improve your quality of your life.

Attaining that perfect work-life balance is ultimate-goal for many in the UK. To achieve this and enjoy all that you do, those moments of levity are paramount.

Interested in learning more of the identifiable universal health benefits of laughter? Here are five simple reasons why you should be laughing more.

Mood Enhancement

Leading studies have shown that laughter can improve people’s mood and general happiness.

Think of it this way, if you walk around with a black cloud hanging over your head, the way you perceive what’s happening to and all around you is different than if the metaphorical clouds lift and the sun breaks through.

Laughter is one of the cornerstones of sustained happiness. It can cultivate gratitude for a shared moment or solitary experience.

Even pretend laughter, without any humorous stimuli can improve mood.

Try laughing without something funny occurring and you’ll find that your brain doesn’t immediately register whether the stimuli is genuine or not, yet the physical act of laughter will lift your mood.

Research has also suggested that laughter has an analgesic quality that reduces unconscious pain, something that’s paramount for regulating mood.

The mood enhancement and mental benefits of laughter can help you to recognise positivity and forget negative thoughts in a heartbeat.

Improves Memory

At one time or another we’ve all cursed our memory.

Whether it has been when you’ve returned from the shops only to discover you’ve bought everything but the one item that you went out for, or that dentist appointment that you booked months in advance only to forget on the day, forgetfulness seems to be symptomatic of our busy lives.

The good news for anyone prone to bouts of forgetfulness is that laughter improves memory.

How?

The connections and associations that the brain forms when learning can be heightened by combining basic learning with an emotional response like laughing.

Improving the degree of association with different parts of your brain, such as logic, reason or amusement, makes it easier to remember facts and details because you have created that additional emotional connection.

So, let’s say for example that you work in an office where it’s all systems go.

One where it feels like every singe day there’s a million and one things to do and remember.

Try introducing laughter to your role (exercised with discretion and professionalism, of course) and you may just find that the benefits of laughter and elevated mood help you to perform your role with finesse and agility – and remember too, a happy team is a productive team.

Get your colleagues laughing and the day will surely go quicker.

Promotes Creativity

For many people, creativity is paramount to their professional and personal lives.

Creativity can even be potent enough to become a significant part of someone’s identity, meaning that separating them from their ability to envision and execute ideas that others cannot is who they are.

Did you know that laughter promotes creativity? Laughing has a myriad of effects on the chemical processes in the body.

In reducing stress hormones, increasing endorphins, and increasing oxygenation to the brain and blood, you will feel a spike in creativity – something that is highly valued in people’s professional lives and hobbies away from work.

If you feel sluggish, uninspired, or worse, demotivated to pursue your artistic, or any creative, endeavours in your spare time, try laughing.

Laughing improves general neurological health, bolstering your body’s natural support system.

This is one of the core health benefits of laughter. Getting that work-life balance is paramount to sustained emotional and physical health – and something as simple as laughing can have a profound effective on productivity and impetus.

After all, the better we feel, the more likely we are to find the motivation to get done what we need to.

Bolsters Resilience and Coping Skills

Life is an interesting journey; we all experience peaks and valleys, face adversity, have obstacles to overcome, and bask in those moments when the stars just seem to align perfectly.

Often when faced with trials, it as much about how you manage the circumstance as it is the actual circumstance itself.

In many cases, it’s about the big picture.

Think of it this way: you’re driving home from work and your car falters fives miles from home. It’s raining. You’ve had a trying day and you need to get home and put the dinner on. You can give into frustration or anger, or take a moment, breathe deeply and think about how to solve the problem.

Now, let’s compound the circumstance.

What if your car was in for a service a week or two before and every potential reliability issue was addressed, apart from the one that’s caused you to break down?

You could either get disheartened and question, why me? Or, laugh at the irony of the situation and act positively to resolve the issue.

In this situation, there are few more impactful actions than employing mental benefits of laughter.

Lightening your mood can have a transformative effect, bolstering resilience and coping skills in that vital moment – or in all future circumstances.

Reduces Blood Pressure

High blood pressure (or hypertension) can have a profoundly negative effect on our health.

Acknowledged as being one of the primary culprits of heart disease and stroke, sustained stress is something that everyone should avoid, regardless of age.

However, consider this: it’s hard to be stressed when you’re laughing. Recent studies have found that laughing can reduce blood pressure. One of the more referenced study is one conducted in 2011 at the American Heart Association’s Scientific Sessions.

Researchers took a diligent and thorough approach to discover the heath benefits of laughter and discovered something rather interesting.

Using playful eye contact and breathing exercises, 79 participants took part in a series of music and laughter therapies.

After each session was concluded, blood pressure readings were taken.

Within 3 months the study found that the blood pressure readings of participants were reduced on average by 7 mmHg (millimetres of mercury.)

In comparison, participants in the music therapy discovered that their blood pressure readings were reduced on average by 6 mmHg (millimetres of mercury.)

The conclusion? Laughter is more effective than music in reducing blood pressure. Feeling stressed or anxious? Laugh – it may well be the salvation you’re looking for!

Why Laughter Yoga?

The success of laughter studies on reducing blood pressure and other health ailments has led to a unique and uniquely effective form of treatment – laughter yoga.

The benefits of laughter yoga are evident from your first session. Unsure what to expect?

Come along to a session at UnitedMind Laughter Yoga.

You won’t find a comedian with a microphone telling jokes whilst you’re concentrating on holding a Mountain pose, Forward Fold or Downward-Facing Dog. You don’t even need to be in a jolly mood.

Laughter is initiated as a form of bodily exercise.

Participants sit together in a group and laugh. Eye contact is completely up to you, but be prepared, this can often lead to uncontrollable fits of giggles.

Playing with Nonsense, Paradoxial Intervention, Gibberish Improvisation

Masterclass & Certification

Over the weekend we will explore and deepen in the field of Non Linear Interventions based gibberish, the art of nonsense and working with Humour Drama Paradoxical Coaching.

Some of the exercises are playful and some are therapeutic.

The course is designed for Laughter Yoga practitioners, medical clowns, drama therapists, theater improvisation actors, expressive arts therapists, psychotherapists, psycho dramatists, logotherapists and everybody who wants to add more nonsense and non linear approach to his or her life.

Why attend?

IMPROVISATION is not only important in the workshop but you are ‘forced’ to improvise in REAL LIFE when you plan but God Laughs upon you (“LAUGHTER” is about that).

You will get better skills as to how to “play with nonsense”, enjoy it and channel it into an opportunity for success and empowerment.

The deep understanding of the concept of NONSENSE will provide you with skills of how to stop fighting reality and searching for “one absolute truth”, while realising “anything goes”.

Hence, you’ll become less disappointed by ‘circumstances’ or life’s surprises and more of an accepting person.

Since practice of Gibberish Improvisation awakes the right hemisphere activity that enables you to be more creative and innovative when you face Surprises of Life and personal “tzunamis”, or else when you are bound to perform any daily tasks without losing vital energy on over thinking & planning.

Practicing of Gibberish on the Stage (and in Real Life) will make you an Artist as anyone can be. As you will experience the Essence of Catharsis you will also get certified as Gibberish Theater Improvisation Certified Leader.

What can you expect from the course?

  • Ways to unload and delete the old belief system and implant a new codification (Epigenetics) in the subconcious mind
  • We will play , experiment with the whole spectrum of emotions and yet devote time in the field of Non Destructive Aggresiveness (Psychologist Bach) , playing with our Anger and recognizing it as a vital part of us to be administered and acknowledged.

We will

  • learn and experiment on stage with self-acceptance, of ourselves, unconditioned to our failures, weaknesses, imperfections or what the others might think of us. We will befriend with ourselves
  • learn how to take the Nonsensical Tools to help us in living our life fearlessly and Improvisingly , leaving the ways of behaviour which have stopped to serve our existence and being and applying new life-affirmative codes of action.
  • improve our capacity to react to unexpected life situations, challenges and surprises (improvisation for real life).
  • enhance the connection with your inner child, (curious, inquisitive, daring, free and creative).
  • play with nonsense, using the tool of gibberish. Learn to let go of logic, thinking and talking including your inner narrative.
  • connect with our inner clown (fool) and explore the ‘wisdom of the fools’.
  • explore some of the basics of Positive Psychology and logotherapy (based on the work of Viktor Frankl). Introduction to provocative therapy and paradoxical intention.
  • explore para-logical choice for self-empowerment: Coaching in taking decisions that require inner strength and moving out of our comfort zone.
  • learn tools and exercises to facilitate your own nonsense & gibberish improvisation workshops.

This is a professional leaders certificate program in gibberish and the art of nonsense.

No previous knowledge is required.

The training is of a therapeutic character, and will include an individual protagonist work on the stage through the Non Linear and Clownish Interventions (Paradoxical Coaching).

We will connect all with Non Linear Psychotherapy (Frank Farrely, Viktor Frankl).

Alex began his laughter journey in India in 2003, where he worked with terminally ill patients. Then he practiced in Ethiopia as a laughter therapist in Mother’s Mission and a nutritionist with SaveTheChildren USA.

Alex has also worked with Israelis and Arabs in an attempt to bring these diverse groups together through laughter and nonsense.

In addition to his impact in his native country of Israel, Alex has traveled all over the world to run professional certified training workshops. He has trained professionals in his techniques in countries including  The UK, Greece, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, USA, Austria, Finland, Austria, Slovenia. He also appeared in local media channels in those countries.

Alex is a Humour Coach practicing and experimenting with Non-Linear Interventions & Approaches focusing mainly on building the capacity of self-acceptance within the individual.

He evokes his protagonists and students to apply improvisational skills used on the stage to their real lives.

His work is strongly inspired by the audacious teachings of Dr Viktor Frankl, Keith Johnstone and Frank Farrely.

Alex is currently the Gibberish Professor of the MsC. in Applied Positive Psychology program at New Bucks University in the UK.

Laughter Thoughts from Yours Truly

When I started teaching Laughter Yoga Leaders to boldly venture into the world and share Laughter Yoga my mission became creating opportunity.

Opportunity for trained Laughter Yoga Professionals, who really wanted to share Laughter Yoga because it is so amazingly good for us, to facilitate events with potential for starting their own business, should they choose to do this.

Opportunity to initiate positive change in the workplace and in life outside work and create non-judgmental environments for personal and professional growth.

One of the great opportunities that has grown out of teaching Laughter Yoga Leaders and Laughter Yoga Teachers for me is working with Holistic Laughter Coach Melanie Bloch, and together with her I deliver the highest standards of the certified training with two dedicated Laughter Ambassadors and the extra accreditation

We have done this now for two years, Melanie and I, and the course is a deep-dive into laughter realness and release! The Laughter Yoga Leader Training in London is exceptional and I say that very humble with the basis in the feedback we receive from our two days of teaching new Laughter Yoga Leaders.

I had been running workshops for some years when I started teaching and I loved it, I still love it – and for the ‘right’ reasons I feel, those that resonate in the heart-space and make you tremble a bit when you sense the wonderful change in people.

But whatever your reason for wanting to share Laughter Yoga with others, there is a growing need for Laughter Yoga Professionals as workplace and personal wellbeing is in focus. Individuals as well as organisations are looking for methods that are easily applied as well as connecting us in the real world outside technology and social media.

It has been a journey of persistence, and I am excited to see the growth in awareness of Laughter Yoga as a method for mental health, workplace and personal health, physical health, and social health, with more workshop and interested parties being passed through to the network of Laughter Yoga Professionals who really want to lead the way and spread laughter.

Even if it is purely for the sake of connecting with like-minded people!

You are part of my tribe of people who enjoy laughter and the practice of Laughter Yoga, and if you want, then there is plenty of laughter to share.

I do not provide you with everything but together we can bring laughter to people who really need a good deep-felt chuckle and a guffaw more often than it maybe currently happens.

My mission is to share Laughter Yoga as a way of engaging, connecting and enjoying life, people, health, and abundance altogether.

Now, who’s with me?!

Love, Laughter and Peace

Your Everyday Laughter Queen #youreverydaylaughterqueen

The Playing Human Conference – June 2020!

A superb line up is currently being introduced. We started in February when we introduced The Miracle Man, Ant Bennett, in March you met the YES Man, Dave Cornthwaite, in April you were acquainted with Play Expert, Yesim Kunter, in May Kate Hull Rodgers was on display, June you got acquainted with Sue Haswell and this month we introduce you to Madan Kataria.

Please welcome Dr Madan Lataria to London!

Meet Dr Madan Kataria – Founder of Laughter Clubs worldwide

Dr Madan Kataria brought laughter to the parks of Mumbai in March 1995 with the first Laughter Clubs kicking off in his ‘hood’. From then Laughter Clubs and Laughter Yoga grew to a worldwide movement and practice.

Together with his wife, Madhuri Kataria, he travelled the world and trained people to start laughter clubs, share Laughter Yoga and change the face of the Earth with laughter.

I met Madan first time in 2008 when he came to London for an interview. Before then I had been introduced to him via email and Skype back in 2002 and I started the Laughter Club International (UK) with his guidance and support. Since then I have had the pleasure of inviting Madan and Madhuri to Manchester and London/St Albans at Laughter Yoga Conferences.

A quarter or a century with Laughter Yoga and the spreading of Laughter Yoga has been amazing to be part of.

Madan and Madhuri are as busy as ever with conferences around the world, Laughter Yoga Guiness Book attempts, and the pledge for opening the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020 so it is a real privilege to be able to welcome the Dr and Mrs Kataria back to the UK for the first time in 5 years when we open the doors to our Laughter Yoga 25th Anniversary in London on 5-7 June 2020. .

“We are paying very high price for taking life seriously, now its time to take laughter seriously” Madan Kataria, Founder of Laughter Yoga Worldwide

Read more about Madan and Madhuri Kataria on www.laughteryoga.org – and look out for the mid-month story of her life…

Make sure you book soon – even if 2020 still seems a long way away.

Did you notice who else is coming?

These truly motivational people are not only there to talk, they are coming to inspire and move us all with playfulness and attitude!

Please get in touch about The Playing Human Conference & Laughter Yoga 25th Anniversary, our courses, workshops, conferences, laughter clubs and other events via email, info@unitedmind.co.uk, phone 0800 1214 714 or mobile 07736 341 717.

A day with Oxford University Press

Diarmuid Carter of Digeo Productions contacted me to see if there was a way we could create a video for Oxford University Press as part of their English course for students with English as a second language.

Of course we could!

I ventured out to Oxford – the the cricket grounds – on a Wednesday in June to spend the day with the production team. On the way I practiced my lines to get them perfect.

However, it is tougher than it may sound when you actually know the ins and outs of Laughter yoga as I know I do.

Memorising someone else’s lines is a real challenge and made me truly appreciate the sometimes-struggle Laughter Yoga Leaders in training go through when they prepare to deliver a short verbal presentation on day-2 of the Laughter Yoga Leader Training…

The team was very understanding and in the end the line “It increases your heart rate and lowers your blood pressure so the effects are similar to gentle exercise and you get a nice workout!” was in the box!

It was a great and fun day for all of us – as per feedback – and I learned a lot about filming and voice over recording which is amazing to observe in such a digital work environment.

It still works with sheets and blankets covering the walls of the space… Fun!

Please get in touch to hear more about our partnerships, our training, workshops, and other events via email, info@unitedmind.co.uk, phone 0800 1214 714 or mobile 07736 341 717.

Unlikely Positions (in Unlikely Places)

…a Yoga Journey Around Britain. By Author Elizabeth Gowing

Elizabeth came to our Laughter Yoga Leader Training in Blackpool in October 2018 to experience a different type of yoga.

She joined in our Laughter Yoga session on Day-2 of the training and explored laughter from a different angle than the typical laughter we share with friends and elsewhere.

It was a mixed experience and Elizabeth has written an honest account about it in her new book ‘Unlikely Positions (in Unlikely Places), a Yoga Journey Around Britain’.

Read more about her book and get your copy via www.elizabethgowing.com/pb/wp_fcbf91e5/wp_fcbf91e5.html.

The Accredited Training Formula

Accreditation means our courses are approved for CPD!

Together with some great Laughter Yoga Teachers I train individuals and teams all over the world to lead laughter sessions as Laughter Yoga Leaders or Laughter Yoga Teachers.

You are always in good hands with approved Laughter Yoga Teachers!

PLEASE NOTE, The Laughter Yoga Training is still certified with a standard international certificate issued by Laughter Yoga International and co-signed by your teacher(s) which you receive at the end of the 2-day or 5-day training.

You can simply get your certificate and be ready but there are a few more requirements if you want the additional accreditation certificate. The training is accredited in the UK.

Getting the training accredited has been a big step in standardising the way we teach Laughter Yoga in the UK and how we bring the techniques to people as a tool approved for CPD purposes.

The courses from UnitedMind that have been approved as FHT Accredited Training are

  • 2-day Laughter Yoga Leader Training
  • 5-day Laughter Yoga Teacher Training
  • 1-day Laughter Yoga Coach Training
  • Laughter Therapist Training

This is exciting news at a time when mental and physical health is top of the priority list for many workplaces and public sector organisations.

With accreditation we are taking Laughter Yoga to another level of nationwide approval within the education system.

If you would like to train with me I would love to teach you and share my 16 years experience with you in London (with Mel Bloch), St. Albans, Durham, Preston, Bristol (with Sue Haswell), and your venue if you want to organise your own dates with your group of minimum 4 people, as well as one-on-one in Hemel Hempstead.
