Introducing: Jeremy Gilley, Peace One Day (UK)

The Playing Human Conference on 27-28 September 2018 is promising a variety of outstanding speakers from around the world.

In September we started introducing these extra-ordinary individuals and their organisations, and this month we have our final amesome world-class speaker on display.

Please join me in welcoming our final world-class speaker, Jeremy Gilley, Founder of Peace One Day!

Jeremy’s unstoppable efforts resulted in 2001 in a General Assembly Resolution being unanimously adopted by UN member states which established 21 September as an annual day of global ceasefire and non-violence on the UN International Day of Peace – Peace Day.

You can read a lot more on Peace One Day where it states the following: “To prove the day can work, Jeremy Gilley and Peace One Day Ambassador Jude Law travelled to Afghanistan to spearhead a campaign that, over the years, has resulted in 4.5 million children being vaccinated against polio in hitherto unreachable areas, as a result of Peace Day agreements in the region. Since then, Jeremy has been working to institutionalise Peace Day, 21 September across the world with Peace One Day.”

Laughter and play is all about creating a peaceful environment which happens when we are connecting with each other in childlike joy, and I am so excited that Jeremy will be closing The Playing Human Conference this year – just one short week after International Day of Peace on 21 September 2018.

Bognor Birdman Competition Fund Raising

10 years ago I was diagnosed with MS and again this year someone showed me my brain and told me there were clear signs of MS. I don’t know what that means and I don’t know how many chances I get to fly for England and Denmark. I don’t even know how many chances I get to raise funds for some organisations who do amazing work for us all and our children including MS Society, Macmillan Cancer Support, Make-A-Wish, and Theodora Children’s Charity.

I would love to do this to show that no matter what we face in life we are not too old and we are not too serious either. Laughter and playfulness helps us cope and this is exactly what is needed for us all. I will fly as a chicken for everyone who has ever thought something was not possible and “chickened” out or felt it wasn’t enough to be just one person to create change.

It starts with one person!

The International Bognor Birdman Compatition is an ideal playful event for playful adults and I have been challenged to take part. I would like to do this in favour of those people who are doing good for us and hope you will help me.

When I worked in IT all those years ago I wore tights with a difference and one pair was orange/red which gave me the name “Kylling” (Chicken) referring to a children’s TV programme called “Bamse og Kylling” (Teddy and Chicken), so my intention is to fly off into the sunset dressed as Chicken (quite clear in the pictures).

Certified Gibberish Coach – new communication skills

Becoming a Certified Gibberish Coach means adding playfulness to your life on a daily basis. Are you ready for it?

You cannot engage in a Gibberish conversation without tapping into your inner joy, child and sense of fun and laughter.

Learning Gibberish does not mean you will be speaking gobbledegook with everyone everywhere. It is about learning a method of letting go and embracing the emotion instead of bursting out hurtful sentences. It is about enjoying the chaos that life truly is and working it!

One day full of Gibberish and you end up with a certificate and a manual to instruct how to proceed – just in case you were wondering…

Next is 23 June from 10am to 5pm at Aboyne Lodge School in St. Albans and we welcome anyone who loves Gibberish and everyone who love Gibberish less.

The Playing Human Conference on 27-28 September 2018 is promising a variety of outstanding speakers from around the world.

In September we started introducing these extra-ordinary individuals and their organisations, and this month we have another fabulous treat in store for you.

Please join me in welcoming Pady O’Connor, Artistic Director at MeeMee Theatre and Hospital Clown in North-East England!

Pady has a background in theatre and has been a mentor, director and physical theatre trainer for many companies and individual creative organisations. Pady has fused together physical theatre, Commedia dell’Arte, mask, clown and puppetry, to create theatre performances and workshops that have been part of changing people’s lives.

When I met Pady in London last year at the Pady and Patch workshop day it was with great anticipation and excitement. He inspires people – and he inspired the flock of almost 100 people with his playful attitude, interactive fun with expression, and with his story.

I am so chuffed he is back to play some more with us – and this time we will have more playtime.

Laughter Therapist Training – not Laughter Yoga

The Accredited Laughter Therapist Training is an overly exciting programme without resemblance to Laughter Yoga Training.

As a Laughter Therapist you handle emotional release and know how to help a client through the various aspects of katharsis, whether through crying or laughing.

With this in mind the requirements for being accepted on the Laughter Therapist Training is having a background in healthcare as a therapist, holistic therapist, or counsellor.

The Laughter Therapist Training runs over two and a half days but that does not complete the course. It runs in the following way allowing you to complete within the timeframe given

• 2-day in-person training
• 6 months case study work (minimum 2 case studies to be completed, 1 group, 1 individual) finishing with a dissertation
• 1/2 day to present your dissertation and complete the training. This day can be organised as an online or in-person meeting

This training is a unique, innovative and a new way of learning laughter and joyfulness with a view to create positive change. Right now only £400 to book.

The Oxymoron Laughter Session – a Play-Work-Shop

It was just a fun idea.

There are workshops and playshops and all sorts of events that are all about laughter, mindfulness, joyfulness, meditation and other meaningful matters we all benefit from.

The Oxymoron Laughter Session is a day workshop or playshop or play-work-shop full of games and fun from 10am to 3pm including an hour for lunch from 12noon to 1pm.

As adults we must adopt play into our everyday life or we become locked in circumstances. This day gives you ideas, fun activities, laughter and most importantly a playgroup for adults!

Join us on 17 March at Aboyne Lodge School – it is only £40 including lunch.

This workshop is also ideal for workplaces to bond their teams and to manage stress, as well as impacting communication.

Laughter Yoga Leader Reunion

About time we meet again! – and share laughter.

Almost 1,000 Certified Laughter Yoga Leaders have been trained by me since 2007 and since 2013 Laughter Yoga Teachers trained by me have been teaching their leaders.

Two years ago we got The Laughter Festival where many of us met and rekindled. However, this year the event is cancelled.

Let’s share a day together anyway!

We go back to Cabourne Parva in Lincolnshire where we spend a day of laughter, play, fun, great food, mindshare and memoryshare.

Laughter Yoga Leaders as well as Laughter Yoga Teachers from any teacher are welcome. And remember, next summer UnitedMind Laughter Yoga Teachers meet at Felden Lodge but more on that later.

Join us on 7 July at the beautiful Cabourne Parva in Lincolnshire – it is only £30 to cover refreshments and lunch.

The next 1-day Certified Laugther Yoga Basic Skills Course is in St. Albans on 5 May 2018 and you only pay £95 for this wonderful day of laughter, play, and serious learning.

The 1-day Certified Laugther yoga Basic Skills Course teaches you what you need to bring laughter to your own life on a sustainable basis for the health, social, resourcefulness and many other benefits of it all. FHT 2018 Training Congress

Federation of Holistic Therapists has put on a great programme for their 2018 congress on 20-21 May.

The FHT is hosting its 2018 FHT Training Congress at the Holistic Health Show in Birmingham.

The 2-day event will feature a range of expert speakers, educating you on various topics, from therapy specific modalities to general business advice, all of which will gain you one point to count towards your continuing professional development (CPD).

With 24 CPD sessions for you to choose from, don’t miss the opportunity to learn new skills and grow your business.

UnitedMind will be sharing Laughter Yoga on 21 May from 12noon to 1pm.

Reviewing January, a real busy laughter month…

January has been a truly magnificent beginning to the new year and I am full of gratitude for having had the opportunity to laugh with so many different people from all walks of life, from celebrities, to cake bakers, to insurance people, to commissioners and many, many more, so I just wanted to share a few thoughts about the laughs.

What is really encouraging is that more and more people are looking up Laugther Yoga and now considering the techniques for ongoing team building and stress management tools for daily use in organisations.

This is what it is all about – lasting long-term positive change on a personal as well as professional level.

A new year kicked off for the Laughter Clubs

The Laughter Club International (St. Albans)

We met and shared laughter inside at

• First St Albans Scout Group’s Wadley Hut

We were just a few people and had great fun laughing together. Please join us on 4th February from 1pm to 2:30pm.

There is parking space off Watford Road on the grounds outside Wadley Hut. Bus 724 takes you from St. Albans City Centre (and rail station) to Wadley Hut.

The Telephone Laughter Club

Our first month of laughing at both 7am and 8am and we are still missing people laughing at 8am but hang in there because we ARE laughing!

From January 2018 we are laughing at 7am to 7:10am on our 0800-freephone number at the following subscription fees.

The 0800-numbers are free from most landline phones and mobile phones but please do check your call plans.

Workplace workshops and laughter training training training

January started with many laughs in many places, Halifax, Stafford, North London, Central London, St. Albans, Hemel Hempstead, Warwick, Marston Moretaine, and online.

Many individuals and organisations organise workshops and training regularly, and it is a real privilege to be part of the journey of using and sharing Laughter Yoga and Laughter Therapy as a tool for resilience, health, longevity, stress management, team bonding, and resourcefulness.

We filled up meeting rooms and production halls, office floors and gyms with groups as well as individuals who were all keen to learn how to add more laughter in their lives for all the benefits mentioned. The feedback from these sessions is touching, moving and inspiring, and although Laughter Yoga is not everyone’s favourite, there is always something in it that sparks a change.

Laughter Yoga Training courses are a great passion of ours and UnitedMind’s events are popular, and often booked early. Almost 1,000 leaders and teachers have trained with us since the first Laughter Yoga Leader Training we ran in 2007.

Robert Holden is one of the nicest, most genuine, kind and playful people I have met outside of the Laughter Yoga community – and I have only met him online.

n 1989 he opened a clinic on the National Health Service called Stress Busters.

It ran for 3 years.

Part of the programme was a meditation class called “Feel Great, Meditate!” and the classes were independently tested by health professionals using biofeedback. Robert’s work was featured in a BBC documentary called Stress Busters.

The Happiness Project opened in 1994 and was sponsored by the National Health Service. Robert’s 8-week happiness programme, called “Be Happy”, was tested by independent scientists for the BBC documentary “How to Be Happy”. Their results declared the program to be “a genuine fast track to happiness.”

I am excited that The Laughter Club International (UK) in St. Albans is now up and running and return to our original day, first Sunday every month (except August).

We will be meeting to share laughter inside at

The 0800-numbers are free from most landline phones and mobile phones but please do check your plans.

This number will be trialed for three months and based on use and cost feedback may be changed to an 0800-number call instead but time will tell what is the best option.

In the FAQ section on the provider website the question of what you will be charged has the following response:

Under Ofcom regulations, calls to 03 numbers must be included in bundled minutes offered by any UK fixed or mobile network operator in exactly the same way as calls to 01 or 02 numbers. This applies to calls from any type of UK line, including mobiles, landlines and payphones. So if calls to landlines are included within your bundled minutes, then your calls to WHYPAY? will be too. If you pay for your calls to landlines, or exceed your bundled minutes, then calls to WHYPAY? will be charged by your provider (not by WHYPAY?) at the same rate. Please note this only applies to UK callers.

Please check your provider’s information regarding the details of your bundled minutes package, as some providers start charging after a certain call duration (usually 1 hour). However many providers allow you to hang up and re-dial before you reach that point in order to avoid being charged, since they then see it as two separate calls.

Laughing with Carers

Since 2003 I have been sharing Laughter Yoga with carers organisations across the country and I have been blessed with often repeat workshops and recommendations.

Many carers have very tightly scheduled lives and little time to enjoy a bit of the all-important “me-time” so it is doubly extra-ordinary to have the chance of laughing for a brief moment and provide tools and skills that can be taken away and shared with the family or simply practiced alone.

The organisations have been large and small but they have the most important thing in common – they care. For someone and for those who care.

Scope is one of the organisations I have worked with this year and I am thrilled to reconnect and put together a Laughter Yoga programme for the befriendable group that is branching out and working even closer with the carers in the new year.

It is an amazing charity with fantastic people who work to make our country a place where disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else.

They care with their families who care.

And there are care organisations all over the country in various sizes and forms.

Care conventions and meetings are great places to share laughter!

Laughter Yoga is a beautiful way of connecting us with an energy that can take us through the toughest of times as well as connect us with other who are there for us, with us or in same or similar situations.

My family is a family of carers.

Important changes to The Telephone Laughter Club

The Telephone Laughter Club has been running since September 2008 at 7am and is still running with great laughs from Monday to Friday from 7am to 7:10am.

Since 2010 The Telephone Laughter Club has been running on an 0800-number which is free to dial from UK landlines and now also from most mobile phones.

Owing to the agreement for 0800-number there has been a small monthly fee of £6 to join the telephone laughs. This will change from 2018.

The Telephone Laughter Club is a non-profit laughter club where every call is live and has always been life, the fee goes to cover the minutes spent. In January to November 2017 the minutes cost £1,362 and earned membership fees of £582. This is my investment in a Daily Laughter Routine and I hope you will continue to invest in the laughterline with me to cover a few minutes of the minutes we share laughing.

Also, from January 2018 the fee will be based on quarterly or annual memberships with a lower fee altogether.

• December 2017, last monthly subscription, £6

• Annual from January 2018 £30

Why this change?

For a few years we have also attempted to laugh at 12noon and 6:30pm but more often there have been few or no people laughing at those times.

With that in mind those times will not be running from January 2018.

Instead we will be laughing from 8am to 8:10am as an experiment for those who like a longer snooze in the morning.

The 8am-8:10am Telephone Laughter Club will be run as a potentially free service on a separate number which you won’t need a subscription for and it will start on 2nd January 2018 at 8am. This number will be trialed for three months and based on use and cost feedback may be changed to an 0800-number call instead but time will tell what is the best option.

Laughter Association UK – your official body

It has been a little over a year since Laughter Association UK was first created and went on to officially being launched on 1 January 2017. Laughter Association is the official body for Laughter Professionals in the UK ensuring best practices and high standards at all times.

Laughter Association UK is constantly raising awareness within the line of work the organisation operates in – for members and for clients.

There is a rise in the number of people who seek out Laughter Professionals via www.laughterassociation.co.uk and finding someone to run laughter workshops and training via Laughter Association UK is a great way to ensure the quality of the work provided.

 It is also with a huge amount of pride that two of our members received the honourable Laughter Ambassador nomination. Lotte Mikkelsen visited the laughter clubs in Bedford and Peterborough to present Cheryl Green and Linda Nightingale with their certificates.

Laughing with MS Society

I spoke about Laughter Yoga and Neurological Disorders at the Laughter Yoga Open Day in Birmingham on 28 October. I have shared laughter with many, many groups who focus on bringing health to people living with so many neurologically affecting conditions.

Over 100,000 people live with MS in UK.

MS Soriety is my ‘heart-child’ as we would call it in Danish as I have a long standing family connection with Multiple Sclerosis which has taken me on a path later in life to share laughter for health and healing with people who are on a life long journey of health challenges and I firmly believe that we can change the course of our health through choosing laughter as a daily practice although there are many skeptics and no research in the area of MS and Laughter Yoga.

Two groups at the MS event in Wrexham had the opportunity of laughing together with me and find new ways forward. What a true blessing and privilege to laugh wtih over 30 people living with MS. The difference laughter makes, and the feeling when you get the laughter into your body to nurture your muscles and give you a feel-good workout is outstanding.

The keynote earlier in the day who talked about research in the area of MS mentioning the immune system and how we can help ourselves through exercises and other means was a direct connector to Laughter Yoga as this is exactly what we do! Laughter Yoga gives your immune system a real boost through lowering stress chemicals. The workout we get when guffawing into the depth of our abdomen is real and easy to do.

MS is not the only condition we battle!

Laughter Yoga can alleviate a lot of discomfort and pain.

Laughter Yoga Training with Your Everyday Laughter Queen

 When you laugh you remove obstacles between people and although it does not remove problems and differences completely it does create the change you need to move forward with everything and everyone in peace.

Practicing Laughter Yoga requires discipline just like with every other habit we create, whether it is exercise, dietary, work or other things we maintain. However, there is a lot of support and a lot of easy ways to add little bouts of laughter and truly feel the benefits in all areas of life. Some people say we laugh for no reason when if fact we laugh for very good reasons, the health and therapeutic benefits. What we do with laughter, though, is make it independent on something funny – we simply choose to laugh even when we are not in the mood.

Why?

Because it creates instant change in mood and in perception of what we face.

The Art of Laughter – a new workshop

Meeting Barbara Grapstein, Founder of the Healing Headbands Project, was truly inspiring.

Healing Headbands Project is a nonprofit organisation based in New York with a purpose of inspiring others to develop a healing mindset by integrating laughter with art.

Their core programme combines laughter exercises with art based on the knowledge that laughter awakens the creative mind.

This workshop is ideal for health organisations and communities, the NHS, groups of people who are on a health and wellness path, young people and anyone who wants to discover their full potential through laughter and art as part of their healing journey.

Participants are encouraged to express themselves and capture this high moment achieved through laughter with the art painting. Their final product is custom printed on special soft UV protected fabric, which is then sewn into headbands.

Gibberish training – blable snorky flump

The language of nonsense is becoming increasingly popular as a means to tackle communication challenges, stress, lack of laughter and severe seriousness.

Exerpt from UnitedMind’s Gibberish Manual which you will receive following your participation on the 1-day Certified Gibberish Coach Training:

What is Gibberish?

Well, it is known as a very old and a primary way of communication. It is the only language that can unite babies around the world when they are born and before they begin to experience the state of separation which Erich Fromm discusses in his book ‘The Art of Loving’.

Gibberish is the most universal language, but contrary to other languages where we speak understandable words that are interpreted by the recipient, in Gibberish there is no thinking, no judging, no interpretation of meaning because since there is no thinking this cannot take place.

Gibberish connects with the term called ‘Body Wisdom’ whereas other forms of communication are related to ‘Mental Wisdom’ or otherwise called ‘Mind Intelligence’.

The training is fun and intensive from 10am to 5pm – you even get homework for lunch!

Learning to be Laughter Yoga Leader

When you want to bring more laughter into your own life and share with others learning to be Laughter Yoga Leader is a great choice.

Two days of learning laughter exercises, background of the Laughter Yoga concept, health and therapeutic benefits plus what to be aware of, and how to lead a Laughter Yoga session.

Once you complete the 2-day training you are recommended to start a Laughter Club in order for you to gain experience and confidence in delivering laughter sessions. The impact of running a Laughter Club is far more extensive, though, as you start feeling the benefits of regular laughter practices getting under your skin.

Change happens when we persist with the daily laughs and to support you you get access to The Telephone Laughter Club for the month following your training so you can stay in the ‘laughter-conversation’.

Becoming Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher

It is not that simple and yet it is!

The latest five days of teaching Laughter Yoga Leaders to become Laughter Yoga Teachers made it clear that the step is one that is of greatness and strength.

In many ways you come to learn more indepth Laughter Yoga tools and techniques than what you have learned when you ventured onto the two days of Laughter Yoga Leader Training whether it was long ago or more recent. However, you leave with friendship, life changes, and love in your heart – an excitement that exceeds all expectations.

To become a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher you must be a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader trained by a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher or Master Trainer.

The Laughter Yoga you learn in two days’ leader training merely scratches the surface but it is essential to have the basic knowledge in order to sink yourself into the depth of becoming a Laughter Yoga Teacher.

What is so different?

First of all, the 5-day teacher training ideally takes place at a retreat where you spend day and night together – mind you, not in a dorms but in separate or shared room with en-suite shower. This provides the opportunity to work closely together, to share a little bit of your heart and soul, and to leave baggage behind as you let go of differences.

This year, we introduced the non-residential 5-day Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher Training as a way of accommodating those who are in close proximity of the venue. All future Laughter Yoga Teacher Training courses will be residential as of January 2018.

Being Laughter Yoga Master Trainer

I am the Laughter Yoga Master Trainer in the UK – with more than 15 years experience in facilitating and teaching Laughter Yoga to groups and individuals.

I enjoyed working in the Technology Sector but I LOVE being on the Laughter Rollercoaster – it is perfect logic in a non-logical way.

When I first started teaching Laughter Yoga Leaders on the 2-day certified programme in 2007 I fell in love with my work over again. Teaching added a new angle to sharing laughter and I knew this was my calling so to speak.

For more than two years I kept pestering Dr. Kataria because I wanted to to teach teachers.

Dr Kataria was profoundly peaceful and over and over I heard the words from him “In time, in time.”

No way would I want to wait for the “in-time-moment” so I pestered on and on and on.

However, time and patience goes hand in hand and I learned the virtue of being patient after some time with no luck in asking. I grew within the remit of waiting and wanting, wanting and waiting, and suddenly I was agreeable with the task and ready.

Today I can understand why.

The change from mind to heart has been another journey I would not have been without. It has taught me lessons in leaving be, letting go, being, non-judment, compassion, acceptance, patience, love. I have cried many tears of heart ache and laughed many laughs of despair – none of which were from my ego but simply from a place of disbelief and sorrow.

Being brought up to believe in the good in all people is what I still believe – with all that still goes on in the world .

There is a large number of requirements to fulfill in order to even be considered as Laughter Yoga Master Trainer.

It is at the invitation and discretion of Dr. Madan Kataria and you must have

• conducted a minimum of 30 Laughter Leader Trainings
• inspired the commencement of more than 50 Laughter Clubs
• a documented history of a minimum of 250 Laughter Yoga volunteer sessions
• been an active Laughter Yoga Teacher for at least three years
• paid a large fee for the intensive training over six months or more

And it doesn’t stop there – your personal growth must reflect in your being as a selfless and compassionate teacher.

Over the years my pursuit of sharing Laughter Yoga has brought me peace of mind and body, a way of being that accompanies the practice when you do it wholeheartedly and with integrity – I am authentically Laughter Yoga.

But first and foremost the most important change is in relation to you, to the people who let themselves emerge in Laughter Yoga and trust me to be there on your journey.

You and I made Laughter Yoga happen in the UK!

The change that happens instantly when you are willing, and give yourself permission to share laughter in a group or on one-on-one basis, is sacred and beautiful.

Without the need and hope for change I would not be Laughter Yoga Master Trainer.

Learning to be Laughter Yoga Leader

When you want to bring more laughter into your own life and share with other learning to be Laughter Yoga Leader is a great choice.

Two days of learning laughter exercises, background of the Laughter Yoga concept, health and therapeutic benefits plus what to be aware of, and how to lead a Laughter Yoga session.

Once you complete the 2-day training you are recommended to start a Laughter Club in order for you to gain experience and confidence in delivering laughter sessions. The impact of running a Laughter Club is far more extensive, though, as you start feeling the benefits of regular laughter practices getting under your skin.

Change happens when we persist with the daily laughs and you get access to The Telephone Laughter Club for the month following your training so you can stay in the ‘laughter-conversation’.

There are regular Laughter Clubs running around the country and it would be fantastic to add your Laughter Club to the map when you start this rewarding group for your near and dear and for your community.

Becoming Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher

It is not that simple and yet it is!

The latest five days of teaching Laughter Yoga Leaders to become Laughter Yoga Teachers made it clear that the step is one that is of greatness and strength.

In many ways you come to learn more indepth Laughter Yoga tools and techniques than what you have learned when you ventured onto the two days of Laughter Yoga Leader Training whether it was long ago or more recent. However, you leave with friendship, life changes, and love in your heart – an excitement that exceeds all expectations.

To become a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher you must be a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader.

The Laughter Yoga you learn in two days’ leader training merely scratches the surface but it is essential to have the basic knowledge in order to sink yourself into the depth of becoming a Laughter Yoga Teacher.

What is so different?

First of all, the 5-day teacher training ideally takes place at a retreat where you spend day and night together – mind you, not in a dorm but in separate or shared room with en-suite shower. This provides the opportunity to work closely together, to share a little bit of your heart and soul, and to leave baggage behind as you let go of differences.

This year, we introduced the non-residential 5-day Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher Training as a way of accommodating those who are in close proximity of the venue. All future Laughter Yoga Teacher Training courses will be residential as of January 2018.

Being Laughter Yoga Master Trainer

I am the Laughter Yoga Master Trainer in the UK – with more than 15 years experience in facilitating and teaching Laughter Yoga to groups and individuals.

I enjoyed working in the Technology Sector but I LOVE being on the Laughter Rollercoaster – it is perfect logic in a non-logical way.

When I first started teaching Laughter Yoga Leaders on the 2-day certified programme in 2007 I fell in love with my work over again. Teaching added a new angle to sharing laughter and I knew this was my calling so to speak.

For more than two I kept pestering Dr. Kataria because I wanted to to teach teachers.

Dr Kataria was profoundly peaceful and over and over I heard the words from him “In time, in time.”

No way would I want to wait for the “in-time-moment” so I pestered on and on and on.

However, time and patience goes hand in hand and I learned the virtue of being patient after some time with no luck in asking. I grew within the remit of waiting and wanting, wanting and waiting, and suddenly I was agreeable with the task and ready.

Today I can understand why.

The change from mind to heart has been another journey I would not have been without. It has taught me lessons in leaving be, letting go, being, non-judment, compassion, acceptance, patience, love. I have cried many tears of heart ache and laughed many laughs of despair – none of which were from my ego but simply from a place of disbelief and sorrow.

Being brought up to believe in the good in all people is what I still believe – with all that still goes on in the world .

There is a large number of requirements to fulfill in order to even be considered as Laughter Yoga Master Trainer.

It is at the invitation and discretion of Dr. Madan Kataria and you must have

• conducted a minimum of 30 Laughter Leader Trainings
• inspired the commencement of more than 50 Laughter Clubs
• a documented history of a minimum of 250 Laughter Yoga volunteer sessions
• been an active Laughter Yoga Teacher for at least three years
• paid a large fee for the intensive training over six months or more

And it doesn’t stop there – your personal growth must reflect in your being as a selfless and compassionate teacher.

Over the years my pursuit of sharing Laughter Yoga has brought me peace of mind and body, a way of being that accompanies the practice when you do it wholeheartedly and with integrity – I am authentically Laughter Yoga.

But first and foremost the most important change is in relation to you, to the people who let themselves emerge in Laughter Yoga and trust me to be there on your journey.

You and I made Laughter Yoga happen in the UK!

The change that happens instantly when you are willing, and give yourself permission to share laughter in a group or on one-on-one basis, is sacred and beautiful.

Without the need and hope for change I would not be Laughter Yoga Master Trainer.

Review: 1st Global Laughter Yoga Conference

Wow!

There were 360 people from 30 different nations present at the 1st Global Laughter Yoga Conference held in Frankfurt, Germany.

Huge thank you to Laughter Yoga Master Trainer Gabriela Leppelt-Remmel and her team.

The conference ran from Friday 23 June until Sunday 25 June with amazing speakers covering topics including laughter and cancer, laughing safely, laughing for peace, laughter in Mexican prisons, research on laughter and many more deep-reaching topics including my own talk on the effects of laughter on neurological disorders.

Prior to the conference Laughter Ambassadors from around the world met and discussed the responsibility of being a spokesperson for Laughter Yoga and the benefits we bring with us.

There was a real buzz of anticipation and excitement just like when you enter the space of an all-awaited concert you have longed to attend for ages.

People coming to events like this have smiles and laughs to share in abundance and the mood was high and ready for news from the laughter stage.

The 1st Global Laughter Yoga Conference lived up to my expectations of being a place where new connections were made, existing friendships were sealed with face-to-face meetings, and joy was flowing naturally without hesitation and hidden agendas.

The Laughter Yoga community is one to be part of – no doubt in my mind, the door is always open!

If you are on a mission to create positivity and important change in your communities this is where inspirations is at its best and highest.

Gabriela Leppelt-Remmel and her team in Germany aced the conference with a wealth of talks, events, fun, meetings and connections made in person.

We may meet initially online but life truly happens in real life!

Following the conference Laughter Yoga Master Trainers met for two days to work out the seriousness as well as the fun of this amazing business of Laughter Yoga that we all share with so many teachers and leaders.’

There is much to come!

The future of World Peace through Laughter is advancing fast!

Laughter Training Options

The great thing about practicing Laughter Yoga is that you can have as much or as little hair as you want but one thing that is for certain is that you don’t need a reason!

This is a recap on last month’s post. It is important to be clear on Laughter Yoga and how you can train.

Oftentimes I get questions like

• “do I need to know or practice Yoga?”
• “what is the difference between courses?”
• “which course is best choice for me?”
• “is it necessary to try Laughter Yoga first?”

and many more.

Although the Compare Course page outlines some of the differences you may have a few more questions you need answered.

This little write-up aims to help you make a decision.

First of all just to clarify, you do not need to know Yoga to practice Laughter Yoga. The reason it is called Laughter Yoga is because we combine deep breathing techniques with playful laughter exercises.

Your Laughter Journey ideally starts with a visit to a Laughter Club.

NB If you run a Laughter Club that is not on the Google Map please get in touch!

However, this may not be an option for you as there are not active laughter clubs in all parts of the country, so you may have watched YouTube video clips or laughed on Skype or perhaps even on the telephone.

There are a couple of next options recommended…

• one could be to learn the skills for yourself at the which does not teach you presentation skills but definitely teaches you laughter for life long-lasting skills. Learning on this 1-day training will also be giving you the choice to develop your laughter further if you want to move to next level…

• the other option could be to become a Laughter Yoga Leader at the 2-day Certified Laughter Yoga Leader Training and in this way learn how to facilitate groups and start a Laughter Club. Laughter Clubs are needed everywhere as we are still thinly covering the UK. You confidence rockets as you learn great presentation skills at this training!

Lots to learn from laughter!

So the questions to ask yourself are…

“Should I learn Laughter Yoga Basic Skills to practice and benefit for myself?”

Becoming a Laughter Yoga Leader does not mean you HAVE to start a Laughter Club – you may simply want to learn for yourself in order to see if this is something you would like to pursue.

The 2-day training is a great opportunity as it opens up huge potential for your own personal growth as well as sharing and helping others develop, too.

Starting a Laughter Club is a great way of building confidence!

Once your experience starts growing from running a Laughter Club you may feel inclined to offer workshops in communities, senior homes, schools, workplaces and other settings.

For this purpose, you may need additional training which could very well be specialised modules for working in specific fields or it could be the Business Experts Programme which can help you get a sense of where you are going with Laughter Yoga and how to progress down the professional path.

You may also start feeling inspired to learn more Laughter Yoga skills so you can conduct one-on-one coaching, and you may even start thinking of potentially learning to teach others.

If one-on-one Laughter Coaching is something you are keen to learn then the 1-day Certified Laughter Yoga Coach Training for leaders and teachers is certainly a great option and adds to your Laughter Yoga skills.

You learn to facilitate an 8-week one-on-one laughter programme with individual clients.

• 1-day Certified Laughter Yoga Coach Training £95/£150 (full fee)

However, your thoughts may go in the direction of becoming a Laughter Yoga Teacher which is now including the Laughter Yoga Coach Training.

Until recently you had a free choice between teacher and leader training but recently things have changed and it is now a requirement to be a Certified Laughter Yoga Leader in order to become a Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher.

When you join the 5-day Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher Training you not only learn new skills in terms of breathing techniques, Gibberish, coaching, business skills, and how to teach leaders, you also start feeling the real change that comes with daily breathing and laughter practice.

You challenge yourself and you set goals for your future.

• 5-day Certified Laughter Yoga Teacher Training £595/£750 (full fee)
  for residential courses in Hemel Hempstead you need to add accommodation fee of £250 (shared)/£300 (single)

The personal and professional growth potentially happening on these courses is outstanding. However, no matter how successful you become – never assume you know it all!

After all these years of teaching and learning I still know but a fraction of what we can do when we embrace the magic of laughter, play, and the joy that springs from it and I share my own lessons through new and innovative courses.

You do not need a background as a Laughter Yoga Leader or Laughter Yoga Teacher to come on the Accredited Laughter Therapist Training.

However, this course requires you to have a background in some form of therapy practice, e.g. psychotherapy or hypnotherapy, counselling or holistic therapy, as the important aspect is to be able to enable and support catharsis.

The course starts on a 2-day Laughter Therapist Training weekend and takes you onto 6-12 months working through two case studies ending up in a dissertation detailing your work and your lessons.
