   Laughter and Alzheimer's Disease
There are over 100 types of dementia. The most common are Alzheimer's disease, vascular dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies. Symptoms include loss of memory, confusion and problems with speech and understanding.

Laughter is probably one of the last things that you might think of when you think of Alzheimer’s Disease... It’s not a funny topic. However, laughter can be an important tool for both the patient, the family, and the caregivers.

Laughter is the best medicine.

Good strong, hearty laughter provides an aerobic workout. In fact, research shows that it could be as good as a 10 minute workout on an exercise bike.

It makes you feel good by releasing the body's happy chemical, Endorphins, to help reduce the amount of the stress hormone, Cortisol, the body.
