There are over 100 types of dementia.
The most common types of dementia are Alzheimer’s Disease, vascular dementia and dementia with Lewy bodies.

Symptoms include loss of memory, confusion and problems with speech and understanding.

Laughter is probably one of the last things that you might think of when you think of Alzheimer’s Disease. It is not a funny topic.

However, laughter can be an important tool for both the patient, the family, and the care givers.

Laughter is the best medicine.

Good strong hearty laughter provides an aerobic workout. In fact, research shows that it could be as good as a 10 minute workout on an exercise bike.

It makes you feel good by releasing the body’s happy chemical, endorphins, to help reduce the amount of the stress hormone, Cortisol, in the body.

Laughter is a universal language and we are born with a non-stop capacity for it.

  • It is a contagious emotion and a natural diversion
  • It brings people together and breaks down barriers
  • Best of all, it is free and has no known side reactions
